Groengas is the cleanest and most sustainable fuel that exists at this moment and it is ready to use. Using groengas for mobility purposes realises the largest environmental gains and has concrete and positive effects on the air quality, such as strongly reduced particulates and concentrations of NOx. It is practically CO2 neutral. Groengas is a non-fossil fuel and can be used in an engine fit for natural gas without any other adaptation.
Groengas is obtained by enriching biogas until it has the same quality as natural gas. Biogas, in turn, is obtained by fermenting different forms of biomass, such as manure, waste from the food industry, and sewage sludge. Biogas also arises at garbage dumps.
Groengas is already available in Vlaardingen, Vierpolders, Roosendaal, and soon in Spijkenisse.
